For many South Africans, the echoes of Queens “We Are The Champions” will be one of the lasting memories for 2019 as South Africans celebrated successes across various sporting codes including the netball courts, the gymnastic arena and of course being the Rugby World Champions.
To succeed at a global level like the Springboks or the South African netball team or even young Caitlin Rooskrantz – who made history being the first South African to win a gold medal in an international gymnastics event – requires more than just natural skill.
“She is a fighter and has come back from quite a few injuries to achieve great success in her career thus far,” Rooskrantz’s coach told IOL.
“Rassie Erasmus – as well as the SA Rugby officials who handed him a six-year contract and the room to implement his master plan – deserve credit for the foundations that have been laid over the past two seasons,” wrote top rugby writer John Cardinelli.
